The Soul’s Kryptonite, Is The Ego’s Weapon.

Who do you want running the show?

Our soul’s kryptonite is whatever we do that takes us out of alignment with our highest self. Any habit that you do not have the power to stop once you start, may be considered your soul’s kryptonite.

This is why meditation could be considered the ego’s kryptonite.

Your chosen art practice may be the ego‘s kryptonite.

Love is the ego‘s kryptonite.

Letting go, forgiveness, yoga, gardening, or whatever your soul is calling you to do can be considered the ego’s kryptonite.

I don’t want to demonize the ego per se.

I do find that it can be helpful to see it as negative, particularly when negative habits are reinforced by it. The ego in my current opinion, is neutral when we are soul connected and have healed our triggers and issues.

Now that I am on the other side of (dare I say) the bulk of my healing, I can feel this. The healthy ego is there to help us accomplish things, while the damaged ego is “protecting” us in all the wrong ways.

For many years, my kryptonite was alcohol. For you it may be something else. Alcohol used to make me feel more alive, until the next day when I felt more dead. After a night of drinking, I would almost always feel shame.

Shame is a great way to detect whatever may be blocking you from your soul self.

Whatever the kryptonite is, it is incredibly destructive. You are damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. The ego wants you to partake, but the moment you do, it starts shaming the fuck out of you for doing it.

We likely learned to use this weapon of the ego to self soothe or compensate for lack, when we were young. It helped us initially, if in a dysfunctional way, to soothe our discomfort and help suppress our feelings. Then it became a habit, and we didn’t know any other way to soothe ourselves, or perhaps who we were without it.

It may not be a substance the ego uses that disconnects you from your soul self. It could be chronic stress, worry, fears, the “news” or a harmful relationship. Something that sparks a familiar yet dysfunctional “comfort” in the discomfort that you feel in your body. You may turn to it when you feel like you’re not enough, or that you cannot handle life’s current events.

When we succumb to the kryptonite, the ego shames us again. When we feel shame, we are diminished and powerless. And the cycle continues.

What does your ego convince you to do, that you can feel disconnects you from your highest self?

When it wants to turn off or suppress your feelings?

To help you to forget?

To make you feel better?

What is your ego’s greatest weapon?

Our soul on the other hand, is always connected to the divine. Even when life presents challenges, our natural state is empowered and trusting of the flow.

When we align with our soul self, we are way less likely to succumb to the kryptonite and the whelms of the ego.

Our soul self needs nothing to feel more whole.

Our soul understands that we are whole already.

Through self-awareness, we become the seer of it all.

We understand that we are not the ego, and that those behaviors don’t define us.

We step into alignment with our highest soul self.

We have the knowing that whatever our soul guides us to consume, do, or be is always for our highest good. We surrender to the magic of flow and ease.

It is so much better to be fed by the soul, than force fed by the ego.

Once we align with the soul, it becomes very clear when something pulls us out of alignment. Our soul will never lead us in the direction of self-harm, shame, or judgment.

Disconnect from the “shamer” ego and align with the soul, and the shamer will lose its power and drop its weapons. Then those habits you shame yourself for can be kicked for good, because you are no longer trying to fill a void.

You are the void. And you are full.
