10 Minutes Daily To Feed Your Soul

When was the last time you did something that fed your soul? Do you know what feeds your soul?

We all have something, or several things that provoke our spark of creativity and ignites our being. It is like we have an imprint on our soul that says, “this is your fuel and connection to source”. It may be something that we do very effortlessly, and that ignites our curiosity. When we spend time doing it, we can lose all track of time. This is because there is a different aspect of our self that is participating and leading the way, our Soul Self. Our truest self.

Unless you’re a 5 year old kid without the collective baggage of 40 years, then you’re just being you. :)

One of the reasons people are so depressed, stressed, and burnt out, is because they are not engaging in anything that feeds their soul. Devoting just 10 minutes a day to any activity that feeds your soul self, whatever it may be, can and will completely change your life for the better. It is the missing piece in your life that you may not even be aware of, that is holding all the vital energy you need in order to help you lead a more fulfilling life.

Everyone has something that they did, likely as a child, that they could get totally lost in. For some people, that may be drawing or painting, for some that is playing in the dirt and gardening. It could be dance, or reading, or writing. Maybe you have no idea what it is, because you had to leave it in childhood, where at some point you felt judged by societal expectations, family, or friends.

Regardless, your inner child is still in there waiting for you to return to it and experience the uninhibited joy that you once did.

Spending time every single day for 10 minutes (shoot for 10, allow for more) on something joyful that is just for you and your inner creator, will give you more patience, compassion, and love for yourself and everyone around you. Think about it. How often are you sacrificing yourself and what your soul wants, so that you may tend to the needs of others? I get it. If you are a parent or a caretaker of any kind, this is you. And I also get that you may not feel like you have enough time to do anything for yourself.

But 10 minutes - you have.

One of the activities that is my personal joy, is Yoga. When I was a kid I was naturally very strong and flexible, and loved doing things with my body just for fun. When I became a young adult, I discovered Yoga and suddenly I was connected to that aspect of myself again, and I started feeling better from the inside out. I craved that time every day and could get lost discovering new ways of moving my body. I found that it improved all aspects of my life, my work, relationships, and sense of belonging. Yes Yoga happens to be a healthy creative outlet, but I believe whatever your creative outlet is, if it is fueling your joy from within, it is healthy.

I later went on to teaching Yoga, and as can happen, it became more of a job and didn’t bring me the same level of joy. It took me years to reignite my personal practice, but eventually I committed to at least 10 minutes a day of doing Yoga just for me. And since then, I love teaching now more than ever! Allowing my body to experience the joy of what it can do, like when I was a kid, spawns endless creativity in my classes, and in all aspects of my life.

If you aren’t certain what activity fuels you, spend 10 minutes each day completely unplugged and walking outside. Think about yourself as a child, and what activities you enjoyed. Is there something similar, that you can do now? Even just vibing with nature for 10 minutes can help you find yourself again. Next time you walk by a park, hop on a swing! I’ll bet you can’t do it without smiling :)

It doesn’t matter what your creative endeavor, whether it be sewing, gardening, or doing a puzzle, it doesn’t matter. It is devotion to you. To your joy and that of your inner child energy.. It is filling your cup.

Simply the intention of doing something for yourself every day, sets the tone for cultivating self love! When we ignore our needs, we are rejecting ourself, which is the worst type of rejection, and at the heart of any rejection we feel may be coming from outside of us. Choosing you, makes a statement to your spirit and to your soul-self, that you matter. No matter how badly we want to look at others to fulfill us, it is ultimately 100% up to us, to fully love ourselves and provide whatever it is we feel that we are lacking.

Giving yourself at least 10 minutes each day for your creative and joyful soul self, will help reduce stress, increase motivation, and bring balance back into your life. Not only that, but whenever we foster the connection with our soul self, we are more available to listen to our soul’s guidance. So instead of being at the mercy of our noisy, overactive thought process that is always filled with judgment, panic, and worry, we can better tune into the peaceful calm presence within us that knows the path to our highest self.

Our inner guidance allows us to rest easy, knowing that everything really will be okay, our problems will resolve, and that we will find our way.

That’s the voice I wanna connect to, and I hope you will too.
