5 Things That Connect You To Your Highest Self

1. Self-Awareness
Self-awareness is when we become aware of our thoughts. From the space of being aware of our thoughts, we are connected to our highest self. This is who we truly are. Our thoughts are born from our experiences in life, the people who raised us, and their experiences.
To become aware of our thoughts, is to know that we are not our thoughts. It is then, that we can disidentify from any thoughts or beliefs that do not reflect what we want for our lives.
If you are wondering, “what thoughts?”
That. That is a thought. If you noticed it, then you are aware of it. Any moment that you are aware of what you are thinking, you have the power to shift the balance in the thoughts that you cling to. You get to choose whether you want to engage with the fearful, worried thoughts that constrict and panic your body. Or with thoughts like gratitude and love that provoke better feelings inside.
Just 5–10 minutes of meditation every single day will significantly increase your level of self-awareness and truly change your life for the better.
2. Gratitude
Anytime we feel gratitude for anything, we are connected to our highest self. Look around you. Regardless of what is going on in your personal life or the world, there are things that you can be grateful for. Make a point to appreciate that which is good in your life often. Anything that you can be grateful for, will strengthen your connection to your highest self.
Gratitude provokes beautiful feelings inside the body that are expansive, heart centered and joyful. Those good feelings are sign that you are connected to your highest self, who is always in that space.
Our highest self is not clinging to superficial “needs”, to “not-enoughness”, or to worries about what may be taken away. Our highest self is aligned with appreciation for everything we have, and that’s where it stays. Law of attraction states that like attracts like. When you are appreciating what you have, you are naturally inviting more things into your life to appreciate.
3. Love
Our highest self (soul self) vibrates energetically from a space of love. The highest energetic vibration in existence is the frequency of love. When we are allowing love in our life and feeling love in our life, we are naturally more aligned with our highest self.
Consider the feelings love brings. The heart is full, open, and expansive, and the body feels happy, and radiates goodness. When you look at a baby (animal or human), or someone you love unconditionally, notice the natural feelings it brings about in you. Become aware of how it feels in your body. Immerse yourself in those loving feelings often.
The opposite of love clenches the body up, provokes, or is provoked by thoughts of fear, judgement, anger, and worry. These feelings create tension in and around the body. Our highest self has nothing to do with that. Our highest self is love in its purest form. To connect with love, is to connect with your highest self.
When you feel love, you feel you.
4. Nature
Nature knows no boundaries or limitations. It just is. At your core, you just are. Nature reflects the essence of being that is in all of us. From the dawn of humans, we emerged as part of nature, and we still are. Our scenery may have changed, but deep down, we are still a part of the natural world.
Nature vibrates at a frequency of unlimited vast presence and peace. Nature ebbs and flows with the tides and winds, changes its appearance, but never it’s essence. As does you. Your essence, or highest self, is unchangeable.
Whenever you are out in nature, you will automatically begin calibrating to the vibration of the natural world, and therefore, to your true nature. Just remember, it’s about being present with nature, so leave your phone behind or turn it off to allow your highest self to fully emerge.
5. Inspired Creativity
Whatever you might be inspired to do that is creative, is likely born from your highest self. At any given moment, you may be inspired to tend to your garden, paint, sing, write, or bake. These are among endless actions, that may be considered inspired creativity.
We all have something or things that we are passionate about. Something that we may get lost in. Ironically, this is where we can “find ourselves”. This inspired creativity can be considered our “soul food”. I believe it is something we were gifted a passion for, for the purposes of strengthening our soul connection.
Inspired creativity can sometimes get bound up by the ego, with pressure to perform at top level or make our creations into our career. Those are just thoughts. We mustn’t let our thoughts get in the way of our soul food.
Just like when you were a kid, create for the joy of it. Play for the joy of it. This is purpose enough.
Practice self-awareness through daily meditation. Make a gratitude list as you drift off to sleep each night and immerse yourself in the feelings of love each day. Recalibrate yourself with and in nature as often as you can and allow your inspired creativity to flow.
Your highest self awaits.
